M is selected because it matches software installed on your system.
E means an error has occurred when selecting this item.
. has no status (is not selected or installed).
N is newer than the software on the system.
O is older than the software on the system.
I is currently installed on the system.
Step 5: Analysis (preview)
a. After selecting the software you wish to update, enter p (preview) to preview, without modifying
the system, the actions that will occur for the update.
The output window appears and begins displaying messages beginning with: Analyzing
software to be installed.
In this step, the update-ux TUI analyzes the software you have selected.
The Analysis window displays status information about the analysis process. If the preview
shows problems, these will be displayed in the Analysis window.

b. The preview stops after the analysis. Press Enter to return to the SW-Selection tab.
c. After returning to the SW-Selection tab, enter l (log) to view the log file, which presents a
view of detailed install information.
d. Review any errors, warnings, or notes. Warnings and notes are simply informational. If there
are any errors, they will need to be resolved before the update can continue.
Step 6: Update
In this step, the system proceeds with the actual update. At the SW-Selection tab, enter i (install)
to start the update process. After the update has started, the system will typically execute a reboot.
After your system has completed its reboot, you will be prompted to change DVDs if and when
needed.
Step 7: Verify update
Use the following steps to verify that the update has completed successfully:
