Table A-2 Known install and update problems (continued)
Description/actionProblem
During an update from HP-UX 11i v2 with OnlineJFS 3.5/4.1 to HP-UX
11i v3 with OnlineJFS 5.0 (B3929FB), the following error message may
be seen.
ERROR: [140167] The product
"OnlineJFS,l=/,r=B.11.23.05" is not
compatible with this system's architecture
or operating system. If the OS has been
updated since this product was installed,
a newer version should be installed if
available.
Additional details on this behavior may be found in Change Request
QXCR1000937651 at the IT Resource Center (http://itrc.hp.com). Click
Search knowledge base, then select Search by document ID for your

What to do
This error message can be safely ignored. The update will complete
successfully despite this error. There will not be any functionality impact
on VxFS. You can also safely remove the incompatible version of
OnlineJFS from your system after an upgrade to HP-UX 11i v3 with
OnlineJFS 5.0. Use the following the command to remove the incompatible
version of OnlineJFS
# swremove -x enforce_dependencies=false OnlineJFS

from HP-UX 11i v2 with
OnlineJFS 3.5/4.1 to HP-UX
11i v3 with OnlineJFS 5.0
If you have created any VxFS file system with disk layout version 2 or
version 3, these file systems cannot be mounted under VxFS 5.0 on HP-UX
11i v3.
What to do
Use the vxfsconvert or vxupgrade command to upgrade the disk
layout to version 4 before upgrading to VxFS 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3. See
the Veritas 5.0 Installation Guide (http://www.docs.hp.com/en/
oshpux11iv3.html#VxFS) for more information on VxFS 5.0.
Updating to HP-UX 11i v3
with VxFS 5.0 from HP-UX
11i v2 with VxFS 4.1
If, before updating to the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2009 DC-OE, you resize
/opt to exactly fit update-ux space requirements, the update may fail
in a non-recoverable way after the kernel build. This is due to update-ux
space calculations for /opt being approximately 300MB too low when
updating to DC-OE.
What to do
If, after you have tried the update, it has been prevented due to
insufficient disk space in /opt, do the following:
Resize the /opt logical volume with at least 300MB more space than
update-ux indicated is necessary. Then proceed with the update.
Update may fail due to
insufficient disk space in /opt
