Summary of Change
This release of SD includes the following new features:
• Support for SoftReboot for install and remove. This helps reduce reboot time and provides the
flexibility to use normal reboot or softreboot.
• Support for parallel installation/removal/configuration on local containers, applicable only
on HP-UX Containers (SRP) enabled systems. Parallel mode is now the default on HP-UX
Containers.
• The following the new options:
The -S option supports SoftReboot. The new option is available on SD32B/64B nPar
systems only. This option is not supported in HP-UX Containers (SRP) and on the HP-UX
11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 releases.

◦ The –x softreboot=false option supports SoftReboot. The new option is available
on SD32B/64B nPar systems only.
◦ The –x srp_parallel=6 option controls mode (serial/parallel), and the number of
concurrent parallel operations on local containers.
Compatibility
There are no known compatibility issues.
Performance
• With softreboot=true, reduces reboot time. Install/remove operation time is reduced on
softreboot-supported systems.
• With srp_parallel=6, reduces install/remove/config operation time by 10-50% depending
on system/disk configuration.
