Samba offers much more compile options and thus a large variety of usage, which makes it
difficult to support. The compile options that are used for HP CIFS server can be seen in
/opt/samba_src/samba/source/configure_hp_options.sh.
HP does as well provide the compiled Samba binaries for HP-UX on http://www.samba.org
(External) for the latest Samba-version. But HP does not deliver Support for those binaries
Release Differences
The major differences in the three releases available for download as the types of Windows
servers and clients that are supported. The clients that are supported by HP CIFS Server are as
follows:
A.02.03.06 Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000/2003
A.02.04.04 Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000/2003/2003R2/2008, Vista
A.03.01.01 Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000/2003/2003R2/2008/2008R2, Vista,
Windows 7.
HP CIFS Client A.02.02.02 has not been tested and is therefore not supported with Windows
Server 2008 or 2008 R2.
