Overview of sg3_utils This document provides an overview of sg3_utils which is an open source utility package that has been ported to work with the HP-UX operating system. This software is distributed under the GPL version 2. There is NO warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the licensing information provided with the package. The sg3_utils package contains utilities that send SCSI commands to devices by using a SCSI command set.
Supported HP-UX Version sg3_utils is supported on the following HP-UX 11i v3 platforms: • March 2012 OE Update Release or later (The package is bundled and installed along with the OE) • September 2011 (The package is available for download at: http://software.hp.com) Limitations • sg3_utils is not supported on HP Integrity Virtual Machine guests with non-iSCSI devices. • sg3_utils is not supported on PA–RISC systems. • The sg_persist command uses the "SIOC_IO_EXT" SCSI pass through mechanism.

Install the gmake utility (version 3.81 or later) on the system, needed to build and install the utilities. cd to the /opt/sg3utils/sg3_utils directory and run: gmake sg3_utils The binaries are built and stored in the /opt/sg3utils/sg3_utils/objs directory within sg3_utils. 6. To install binaries, run the following command: gmake install You can use the gmake uninstall and gmake clean commands to uninstall the binaries and clean the /opt/sg3utils/sg3_utils/objs directory, respectively.
