On npar1:
# icapmodify -B 40000
Temporary capacity available: 27 days, 18 hours, 40 minutes(40000 minutes
TiCAP)
This assigns 40000 minutes of TiCAP to the partition npar1.
NOTE: The amount of TiCAP is specified in minutes . It can also be specified in the ‘xxdyyhzzm’
that is for ‘xx’ days,’yy’ hours and ‘zz’ minutes.
On npar2:
# icapmodify -B 3200
Temporary capacity available: 2 days, 5 hours, 20 minutes(3200 minutes
TiCAP)
This assigns 3200 minutes of TiCAP to the partition npar2.
IMPORTANT: Self-enforcement requires that the sum of the TiCAP assigned to the partitions in a
complex must not exceed the TiCAP bought for the complex.
Temporary Capacity commands
Assigning TiCAP to a partition
TiCAP is assigned to a partition using the following command:
icapmodify –B [<numberOfMinutes>| <xxdyyhzzm>]
Sample Output:
# icapmodify –B 240
Temporary capacity available: 0 days, 4 hours, 0 minutes(240 minutes TiCAP )
This assigns 240 minutes of TiCAP for the partition.
NOTE: TiCAP is assigned in terms of minutes. It can also be specified in the ‘xxdyyhzzm’ that is
for ‘xx’ days,’yy’ hours and ‘zz’ minutes. Only positive balance are allowed , that is the TiCAP
balance cannot be set to negative.
Decrementing TiCAP assigned to a partition
The amount of TiCAP assigned to a partition can be decreased by using the following command:
icapmodify –I <negative_number>
IMPORTANT: 30 minutes of TiCAP is reserved for each core currently using TiCAP. So during
decrement of TiCAP , the operation is not allowed if the above condition is not met.
Sample Output:
# icapmodify –I -120
Temporary capacity available: 0 days, 2 hours,0 minutes(120 minutes TiCAP )
This decreases the amount of TiCAP assigned to the partition by 120 minutes.
Incrementing TiCAP assigned to a partition
The amount of TiCAP assigned to a partition can be increased by using the following command:
icapmodify –I <positive_number>
Sample Output:
# icapmodify –I 120
Temporary capacity available: 0 days, 4 hours, 0 minutes(240 minutes TiCAP )
This decreases the amount of TiCAP assigned to the partition by 120 minutes.
