HP Instant Capacity Version 10.x User Guide (762794-001, March 2014)

To deactivate one or more cores in a partition from the Onboard Administrator, use the following:
icapmodify -d <number> -p par_id
Setting the temporary capacity warning period
By setting the warning period to ‘x’ days, you can receive mail notifications if the partition’s
temporary capacity is projected to expire within the next ‘x’ days. Appropriate actions can then
be taken to replenish the temporary capacity balance.
To set the warning period, use the following command:
icapmodify w <number_of_days>
Sample Output:
# icapmodify -w 10
The Temporary Capacity Warning Period has been successfully set to 10 days.
NOTE:
By default, the warning period is set to 15 days.
Set the system contact email address with "icapmodify -c"
To receive mail notifications, the Alertmail feature must be enabled and configured correctly
on the Onboard Administrator associated with the HP Integrity Superdome 2 system.
TiCAP warning period notification is firstly sent at midnight when TiCAP balance is deducted
below the warning period. Afterwards, if TiCAP is deducted once in a last 24 hours regardless
of the existance of any TiCAP cores at midnight, the notification message will be sent again.
The example below shows the message that is written to the OA syslog around midnight when the
warning period notification occurs. This message is written regardless of the Alertmail configuration.
Example 22 Information message in OA syslog when warning period notification occurs.
icapd: The complex has 8 core(s) currently consuming temporary capacity.
The temporary capacity balance at the current consumption rate is projected to
expire on or around: 01/02/70 >.
Tracking usage of TiCAP
The icapstatus command provides the following information about the use of temporary capacity
on the system:
Amount of temporary capacity remaining (in days, hours, and minutes)
Number of cores using temporary capacity (number of active cores without usage rights)
Projected temporary capacity expiration date and time (based on the current temporary
capacity consumption rate)
You can find this information in the Summary of iCAP contract section of the icapstatus
command output.
Example 23 shows the display of temporary capacity information from the Summary of iCAP
contract section of the icapstatus command output:
