HP Instant Capacity Version 10.x User Guide (762794-001, March 2014)

Monitor and report system compliance (icapd daemon on HP-UX, ICAP_SERVER process on
OpenVMS).
Manage GiCAP groups (icapmanage command).
For details about these commands on HP-UX, see “iCAP HP-UX manpages for HP Integrity Superdome
2” (page 142).
For the OpenVMS equivalents of these commands, see also “DCL commands” (page 213).
Utility Pricing Solutions portal
The Utility Pricing Solutions (or iCAP) portal is located at the HP website:
http://www.hp.com/go/icap/portal
After you purchase a component without usage rights, HP sends you a letter containing instructions
on how to obtain an RTU codeword from the Utility Pricing Solutions portal.
iCAP administration system
If asset reporting is configured, the icapd daemon sends asset reports, in the form of encrypted
email messages, to the iCAP Administration System, which saves information in the iCAP database.
iCAP database
The iCAP database is a repository on an HP (internal) corporate server that tracks system resources
and provides the information for codeword generation. Note that this database should not be
confused with a GiCAP database, which is created on a customer Group Manager system. See
Chapter 7 (page 67) for details about GiCAP.
Other system management commands
Other system management commands (such as vparmodify, parCLI and parMgr on HP-UX)
provide an interface to modify system configuration that affects iCAP contractual compliance.
