Ordering TiCAP
To add temporary capacity credits to a system, order the desired quantity of the TiCAP product
for your type of server. The system serial number is required for orders of TiCAP.
iCAP cores that are added to an existing system can include some additional temporary capacity
called Instant Access Capacity (IAC). Over time, the IAC can be consumed and you might want
to also order additional temporary capacity to continue activating cores on a temporary basis.
Temporary capacity is purchased in units of processing days, each of which can be used to activate
a single core for 24 hours (either continuously or spread over several days), or multiple cores for
portions that add up to a single day. Then you must follow the configuration procedures for each
partition (see Acquiring and configuring TiCAP” (page 54)).
HP-UX licensing and support with TiCAP
When you purchase temporary capacity, the temporary HP-UX license-to-use is included when
iCAP cores are activated using temporary capacity. You might also need software licenses for
nonproprietary software. Check with your application software vendor for licensing requirements.
Since licensing requirements can change without notice, check your contract to understand the
details of software licensing with temporary capacity.
