Increasing Flexibility by Mixing Minor Release of Virtual Partitions

Mixed Minor 11iv3 vPars
Virtual partitions support mixing different minor release of vPars starting with the March 2011
release. There are various reasons why this feature makes vPar usage more flexible than before.
Some of those reasons are as follows:
It is easier to carry out OE upgrades; it is not required to upgrade all vPars simultaneously.
A reboot of the vPar Monitor might not be required after an upgrade. There are conditions
where a lower version Monitor is able to support a higher version vPar
Figure 1: vPars minor versions at different Operating Environment (OE) levels
As illustrated in Figure 1, vPars can be used at different software or OE levels. Note that this
feature is only available for 11i v3 vPar software versions greater than or equal to A.05.05.xx
and the only 11i v2 vPar software version approved to run in this feature is A.04.07. Any other
vPar software level on an 11i v2 Operating Environment is not supported.
