The following is the output from the ioscan command for the configuration in Figure 1:

In this command output, the handle 64000/0xfa00/0xa is associated with the LU name
0x600508b3009097f0421745217a6c0057 and device instance number 1. This association is
persistently saved in the kernel registry and allows HP-UX to generate the same device special file
across system reboots. Note that the 1 at the end of the device special file name is the device instance
number and not the handle number.
In Figure 2, if an LU is presented via another target port based on the LU name, HP-UX associates the
newly discovered lunpath to an existing LU.
