For example, the user entered the following mipconfig configure node command on two
lines by using the continuation character:
mipconfig> configure node 15.15.15.3 -spi 1024 -key 11 22 33 44 55 66 77\
88 99 00 11 22 33 44 55 66
Exiting a command character (control-c)
You can exit from a mipconfig or miproconfig command by entering control-c.
mipconfig or miproconfig will delete any previous information typed for the command.
Deleting a parameter value character (!)
You can use a configure command to modify the parameter values of a previously
configured object. To remove a parameter value, specify an exclamation point (!) as the
argument for that parameter as part of a configure command (expert mode) or in
response to the prompt for the parameter value (novice mode).
For example, the interface lan0 was previously configured with the maximum
registration lifetime (mrl) value 200 seconds. To delete this parameter value and let the
Mobile IPv4 daemon use its default value, you could type the following mipconfig
command:
configure interface lan0 -mrl !
Operating Modes
The mipconfig and miproconfig configuration utilities have three operating modes:
1. Novice - the configuration utility prompts the user for each parameter
2. Expert - the configuration utility expects the user to supply all necessary command
parameters
3. Batch - the configuration utility reads commands from a text file
Novice Mode
If you enter a command but no optional parameters, mipconfig or miproconfig will
operate in novice mode and prompt you for each parameter value. mipconfig or
miproconfig will also display any default value for the parameter, and you can select
the default value by pressing return. You can also type a question mark (? ) to get
information about each parameter.
Example:
mipconfig> conf interf lan0
(mipconfig gets the configured IP address for lan0 and presents it as the default.)
Primary Address (15.14.201.200): <CR>
(mipconfig gets the configured netmask for lan0 and presents it as the default.)
Primary Address Netmask (255.255.248.0): <CR>
Services (): ?
(the user types ? and mipconfig prints help information for the Services parameter.)
