write
The write command writes data configured during the current mipconfig session to a
configuration file.
Syntax
w[rite] [filename]
Parameters
filename Name of the file to which mipconfig will write the data. If filename
does not exist, mipconfig will create the file. If filename already
exists, mipconfig will ask if you want to overwrite the existing
contents.
If you do not specify filename, mipconfig will prompt for a file name
and provide the working file name as the default.
Notes
The mipconfig utility will verify the following items to ensure that the information
required for a valid configuration file is present:
At least one interface is configured for Home Agent, Foreign Agent, or combined
Home and Foreign Agent services.
All required information for each Mobile IPv4 interface is configured. If an interface
is configured for Foreign Agent services but does not have a configured Care-of
Address, mipconfig will configure the interface’s primary address is as a Care-of
Address.
The number of routers configured for an Mobile IPv4 interface does not exceed the
maximum (eight).
The number of Care-of Addresses configured for an Mobile IPv4 interface does not
exceed the maximum (eight).
If the verification check fails, mipconfig will display informative messages about the
failures. The mipconfig utility will still write data to the output file, but the file will not
be a valid configuration file. This allows you to retain the configuration data from the
session and correct it later. Do not attempt to start the mipd daemon with an invalid or
incomplete configuration file.
Before creating a configuration file, the preferences of routers in all interfaces will be
normalized so that they are between 1 and n , where n is the number of routers
configured for that interface. If multiple router entries have the same preference value,
mipconfig gives the most recently configured router a higher value.
