start
The start option starts the mipd or miprod daemon.
Syntax
-star[t] [mipd | ma | miprod | cn] [-file configuration_file]
Parameters
mipd Start the mipd daemon, the daemon for mobility agents (Home or
Foreign Agents).
ma Start the mipd daemon, the daemon for mobility agents (Home or
Foreign Agents).
miprod Start the miprod daemon, the route optimization daemon for
Correspondent Nodes.
cn Start the miprod daemon, the route optimization daemon for
Correspondent Nodes.
-f configuration_file
Configuration file for the daemon. If you do not specify -f
configuration_file, mipadmin will use the file
/var/adm/mip/mipd.conf if you are starting mipd or
/var/adm/mip/miprod.conf if you are starting miprod.
If the file does not exist, mipadmin will print an error message and
terminate without starting the daemon.
Description
If you do not specify a daemon (mipd or miprod) or type of service (ma or cn) to start,
mipadmin will start the mipd daemon.
The mipadmin utility parses the configuration file to verify that the file meets the
minimum requirements for a valid configuration. For a mipd configuration file, mipadmin
verifies the following items:
• At least one interface is configured for Home Agent, Foreign Agent, or combined
Home and Foreign Agent services.
• All required information for each Mobile IPv4 interface is configured.
• The number of routers configured for an Mobile IPv4 interface does not exceed the
maximum (eight).
• The number of Care-of Addresses configured for an Mobile IPv4 interface does not
exceed the maximum (eight).
For a miprod configuration file, mipadmin verifies the following items:
• At most one interface is configured as the source address for route optimization
tunnels.
• If an interface is configured as the source address for route optimization tunnels,
miproconfig checks if the interface is configured for IP services (ifconfig UP, not
POINTOPOINT or LOOPBACK) and that the IP address matches the address configured
