status
The status option queries mipd or miprod and displays general information and
statistics about Home Agents, Foreign Agents or Correspondent Nodes.
Syntax
-stat[us] -r
Parameters
-r Reset option. Resets the statistical counters to 0.
Description
The output displays General Info and statistics. General Info displays the services
offered and the time the daemon started.
For Home and Foreign Agents, mipadmin reports the following statistics:
Number of Registration Requests: Number of Registration Requests received
from Mobile Nodes.
Number of Registration Failures: Number of Registration Requests that the
agent rejected. This value does not include failures caused by errors when processing
Diameter AAA messages or initial replay protection failures. Reasons for failure may
include requests from unknown Mobile Nodes.
Number of Registration Authentication Failures: Number of Registration
Requests that the agent rejected because of authentication failures (mis-matched
SPI, security algorithm or invalid authentication value). These failures may indicate
that a Mobile Node and Home Agent have mis-matched security parameters
configured.
Number of Initial Replay Protection Failures: Number of Registration
Requests that the agent rejected because replay protection failed. Initial replay
protection failures may be caused by differences in system time between the agent
and the Mobile Nodes. The Home Agent will include information in the Registration
Reply that the Mobile Node can use to correct time differences.
The ID field in a Registration Request is formed using the Mobile Node’s system
time. The agents use the ID field for timestamp replay protection. If a Mobile Node
sends an ID with a timestamp value that is not within a reasonable range of the
agent’s system time (7 seconds), the agent will reject the registration request and
send a reply with an error, which includes an ID formed using the agent’s system
time. This allows a legitimate client to send a new Registration Request with an
acceptable ID.
For Correspondent Nodes, mipadmin reports the following statistics:
Number of Binding Update Messages: Number of Binding Update Messages
received from the Home Agent. The Home Agent sends Binding Update Messages to
the Correspondent Node with the Mobile Node’s current Care-of Address.
Number of Binding Update Failures: Number of Binding Update Messages that
the Correspondent Node rejected for reasons other than authentication failures.
