Configuring a Home Agent
The recommended steps for configuring a Home Agent are listed below. Refer to
Appendix A, “Configuration Examples,” on page 201 for example configuration sessions
and files.
Step 1. Start mipconfig to create a configuration file for mipd, the HP-UX Mobile IPv4 daemon
for Home Agents and Foreign Agents.
If you are configuring a Home Agent to provide Route Optimization Services, you must
also configure information about the Correspondent Nodes, as described in Chapter 7,
“Configuring and Administering Route Optimization,” on page 71.
Step 2. If you have AAA Mobile Node clients, configure AAA information using the mipconfig
configure global command.
Step 3. Configure Home Agent services on one or more interfaces using the mipconfig
configure interface command.
Step 4. If you have non-AAA Mobile Node clients or want to use route optimization, configure
security information using the mipconfig configure node command.
Step 5. If you will support AAA Mobile Node clients with dynamic home address allocation,
configure IP address pools using the mipconfig configure pool command.
Step 6. Write the configuration data to a file using the mipconfig write command. Exit
mipconfig
After you create the configuration file, start the mipd daemon, as described in “Starting
the Home and Foreign Agent Daemon (mipd)” on page 67. Verify that mipd is running, as
described in “Verifying the Home and Foreign Agent Daemon (mipd)” on page 68.
