Starting the Route Optimization Daemon (miprod)
The miprod daemon provides Route Optimization services on Correspondent Nodes.
There are two ways to start miprod:
Automatically, at system startup time
Manually, using the mipadmin utility
In most cases, you will want miprod to automatically start at system startup time.
Automatically Starting miprod at System Startup
The /etc/rc.config.d/mipdconf file contains information used by system startup
scripts to automatically start miprod when the system is started. To enable this feature,
set the miprod variable to 1 in the /etc/rc.config.d/mipdconf file:
MIPROD=1
Optionally, you can change the file name of the miprod configuration file. By default,
miprod will use the configuration file /var/adm/mip/miprod.conf. You can change this
by setting the MIPROD_CONF_FILE variable to a different file name.
After you modify the /etc/rc.config.d/miprodconf file, miprod will automatically
start the next time the system starts up. To start miprod immediately, use the mipadmin
utility, as described below.
Manually Starting miprod Using mipadmin
Use the following mipadmin command to manually start miprod:
mipadmin -start miprod
You can also use the following command:
mipadmin -start cn
The mipadmin utility will ask you to confirm that you want to start the daemon:
NOTE: starting miprod with /var/adm/mip/miprod.conf
Start miprod? (yes)
Press RETURN or type yes to start the daemon.
