• Problem
Creating an online checkpoint for a database that has only the DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
set as an archive log destination causes a warning message to be printed from the checkpoint
creation command. The message states that a clone cannot be created from this checkpoint.
If the dbed_clonedb command is run subsequently using this checkpoint, database recovery
fails with an Oracle error.
Workaround
To create a clone of a database successfully from an online checkpoint, define a mandatory
archive log destination which is not the same as DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST.
• Problem
The dbdst_admin -o rmclass command fails while attempting to remove a class name
of 30 characters or more.
Workaround
The maximum class name length supported is 29 characters.
• Problem
The tablespace folder is empty if the Oracle database is started from the SMO GUI without
running the dbed_update command. Rescanning from the SMO GUI does not solve the
problem.
Workaround
Run the dbed_update command from the command line before starting an Oracle database
from the GUI.
• Problem
Repository changes resulting from executing Storage Foundation Database (SFDB) Storage
Checkpoint CLIs are not reflected immediately in the SMO GUI. The affected commands
are dbed_update, vxckpt_create, vxckpt_mount, vxckpt_umount, and
vxckpt_remove.
Workaround
Refresh the SMO GUI manually or wait for 30 minutes because the SMO provider
automatically rescans after every 30 minutes.
• Problem
The Web GUI statistic scheduler uses the client timestamp, instead of the server timestamp.
As a result, the first statistic collection is skipped. For example, let us assume that the system
time is 14:00 and the client time is 13:45. If the user wants to start taking three samples
starting at 13:45, with 30 minutes interval between each sample, only two samples will be
shown: one at 14:15 and another at 14:45.
Workaround
Ensure that the system time of the web server is the same as the system time of the backend
server on which the vxdbd daemon is running.
• Problem
When using the Web GUI with the Mozilla Firefox browser, the Refresh command in the
View Statistics wizard does not work.
Workaround
No workaround is available. You must use Internet Explorer instead.
• Problem
If you specify a snapplan that does not exist with the dbed_vmsnap, the following error
message is displayed:
