Installation of non-default VxFS and VxVM software version on HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 Operating Environment Update Release

OnlineJFS 5.1 SP1 is “Recommended” bundle and will be installed by default in the DCOE, VSEOE, and HAOE.
OnlineJFS 4.1 is not default installed (as it was in earlier OEURs) and an explicit software selection is required
to inst all the same.
VxVM ver sion 5.1 SP1 is included in the March 2014 and later 11i v3 OEURs or AR media. Explicit select ion of
VxVM ver sion 5.1 SP1 in the Ignite-UX tool is required to inst al l t he VxVM.
To install or upgrade to March 2014 OEUR with a non-5.1 SP1 version of VxFS, customized OEUR depots need
to be created. The steps for creating the customized OEUR depots are described in the following sections.
If you choose to install the 4.1, 5.0, or 5.0.1 version of VxFS and VxVM (which are not default included in March 2014 11i
v3 OEUR) instead of the 5.1 SP1 version of VxFS and VxVM (which is included by default in March 2014 11i v3 OEUR), this
paper provides the instructions to install VxFS or VxVM version 4.1, 5.0, or 5.0.1 when cold installing (or updating from)
the March 2014 11i v3 OEUR and later.

Installation Instructions
To install a VxFS based system along with VxVM (optional), you must complete the steps provided in this section. These
steps are needed only if you want to install the non-default version (not shipped as part of March 2014 HP-UX 11i v3
OEUR) of VxFS/ VxVM.

However, if you need a system with both VxFS and VxVM of version 4.1, 5.0, or 5.0.1, you must complete the steps
described in the following section.
NOTE
: HP does not support mixed versions of VxFS and VxVM.
Installing or updating to HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 OEUR from a customized depot
This section describes how to install or update to HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 OEUR with VxFS and VxVM version 4.1, 5.0, or
5.0.1 from a customized depot. You can obtain the VxFS and VxVM version of 4.1, 5.0, or 5.0.1 bundles from the
Independent media set.
NOTE:
All disk group versions supported by VxVM version 4.1, VxVM 5.0, and VxVM version 5.0.1 are supported by VxVM
version 5.1 SP1. All disk layouts supported by VxFS version 4.1, 5.0, and 5.0.1 are supported by VxFS 5.1SP1.
To install or update a VxFS and VxVM version 4.1, 5.0, or 5.0.1 based system:
1. Copy the March 2014 11i v3 OEUR or later Operating Environment (OE) into a SD depot.
2. Delete VxFS and VxVM version 5.1 SP1 from the depot (created in step 1):

3. Copy the respective version of VxFS and VxVM bundles into the depot:
CASE A: For VxFS/ VxVM 4.1
# swcopy s <depot location of VxFS and VxVM 4.1> B3929EA Base-VXFS Base-VXVM @ <destination depot>
CASE B: For VxFS/ VxVM 5.0
# swcopy –s <depot location of VxFS and VxVM 5.0> B3929FB Base-VXFS-50 Base-

CASE C: For VxFS/ VxVM 5.0.1
# swcopy –s <depot location of VxFS and VxVM 5.0.1 > B3929GB Base-VXFS-501
