supports UML P rofile for Core Components (UPCC)-style Serviceguard packages for
consolidated logging and configuration synchronization.
Use the HP SMH System and Consolidated Log Viewer to filter and view a system's local
syslog log files. For a syste m that is also a log consolidator, the System and Consolidated Log
Viewer also filters and displays the consolidated logs. From the HP SMH, system
administrators can take advantage of viewing the consolidated logs from the Logs>clog
viewer>svv clog viewer page.
The System and Consolidated Log Viewer d isplays the syslog-related logs for the system. By
default, this includes the local logs for the system from /var/adm/syslog. If this system is also
a log consolidator, the consolidated logs are also listed. For more information on using
Distributed Systems Administration Utilities, see the Managing Systems and Workgroups A
Guide for HP-UX System Administrators available at

Summary
HP-UX 11i provides a rich set of capabilities to support single system management. Designed
from direct customer input, the latest generation of HP-UX 11i system management
applications reflect the real needs of today’s IT administrators who must manage a dynamic
environment with smaller staffs and reduced budgets.
With HP-UX 11i system management tools, administrators gain the performance and
accessibility to efficiently manage servers. The choice of an enhanced CLI, menu-driven TUI,
and web-based GUI ensure that both experienced and junior administrators alike can be
productive quickly when working with HP-UX 11i. In addition, these single-system
applications also work seamlessly with higher level multisystem and enterprise management
environments, including HP Systems Insight Manager and HP OpenView products. As a
result, administrators gain more visual abstracted views of their heterogeneous IT assets,
while also having the ability to automatically launch HP-UX 11i management tools from within
HP SIM or HP OpenView products when system-level precision tuning is required.
From end to end, HP provides comprehensive single system management tools, employing
built-in intelligence, flexibility, and increasing levels of automation to enable a dynamic link
between business process and IT resources. Administrators can work more proactively,
efficiently, and strategically, turning IT into a powerful competitive advantage for the
business.
