2 Installation and Uninstallation
Installation

To install the SoftRebootEnh, perform the following steps:
1. Download enabler patches to target machine from http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/
site/hpsc/public/.
2. Install the SoftRebootEnh bundle from B.11.31.1203 OE that is available electronically and
on media. SoftRebootEnh bundle is available from B.11.31.1203 OE onwards.
3. Verify supported platform.
4. Run swinstall to install the enabler patches and product
swinstall x autoreboot=true -s <target dir to enabler
patches and product> \*
The above command results in installation of DLKMs, commands and kernel enabler patches
for SoftReboot. The SoftReboot kernel patches are applied to the current kernel configuration
and a new kernel is built.
This shall result in a system reboot automatically.
5. Run swlist to verify successful installation
swlist | grep SoftRebootEnh
6. Download software distributor version HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31) B.11.31.1203 from
software.hp.com.
The above command results in supporting swinstall with special softreboot flag.
EAP
1. Download the SoftReboot bundle from:
mdepi.ind.hp.com:/pub/FRB/sboot_ncf_bundle_30th.depot
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <bundle location> \*
2. Download the software distributor version to support swinstall with special softreboot flag
from: mdepi.ind.hp.com:/pub/FRB/SD.depot
swinstall -s <bundle location> \*
NOTE: Login/password: ftp/ftp
Uninstallation
To uninstall SoftReboot solution, run the command:
# swremove -x autoreboot=true SoftRebootEnh
This shall result in removal of SoftRebootEnh product. Kernel enabler patches have to be removed
separately.
NOTE:
Uninstallation of SoftReboot patches requires normal boot.
SoftReboot cannot be used during uninstallation of itself.
