HP-UX Logical Volume Manager and MirrorDisk/UX Release Notes (September 2009)

Table 1 LVM Fixes in HP-UX 11i v3 September 2009 (continued)
DescriptionDefect ID
The vgimport command displays an incorrect volume group version in the Error:
Unsupported volume group version. The command supports up to version
X.Y message when you invoke the command on a volume group with an unsupported
volume group version.
QXCR1000908270
The importation of avolume group with a mirrored logical volume is allowed on HP-UX
11i v3 even if MirrorDisk/UX is not installed.
QXCR1000908273
For shared Version1.0 volume groups and their mirrored NOMWC logical volumes, when
an HP Serviceguard cluster node crashes and LVM recovers the mirrored NOWC logical
volumes, LVM does not start a resynchronization of the logical volumes. No data corruption
occurs because LVM marks all physical extents on the logical volumes stale, except one.
This problem occurs on the HP-UX 11i v3 September 2008 and March 2009 update releases.
QXCR1000908998
If the physical volume name exceeds 23 characters, it is truncated in the PVG listing of the
vgdisplay v output.
QXCR1000911972
The lvlnboot command performs unaligned I/Os to the boot disk of a volume group.
QXCR1000914713
When you attempt a volume group version change on a Version 2.0 or a Version 2.1 volume
group that has stale extents on logical volumes with mirror consistency recovery policy set
to NOMWC, the command succeeds in preview mode but fails when executed without the
preview option stating that the volume group could not be activated.
QXCR1000918653
The vgimport of a Version 2.1 volume group, created by converting a Version 2.0 volume
group to Version 2.1 using vgversion, succeeds on a system that does not support Version
2.1 volume groups (March 2008 release of HP-UX 11i v3). The vgimport of a Version 2.0
volume group, created by converting a Version 2.1 volume group to a Version 2.0 using
vgversion, fails on a system that can support only Version 2.0 volume groups (March
2008 release of HP-UX 11i v3).
QXCR1000925131
The output of LVM display commands for non C locales is unaligned for Version 2.0 and
higher volume groups.
QXCR1000926968
On HP-UX PA systems, the lvrmboot r VG_name command fails with the lvrmboot:
Unable to Remove Root Logical Volume message and returns an incorrect exit code
although the operation actually succeeds.
QXCR1000930152
For Version 2.x volume groups, the reprovisioning feature (vgmodify -S) introduced in
the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2009 release does not permit a subsequent vgextend command
to increase the maximum volume group size for physical volumes, unless the volume group
is deactivated and reactivated before invoking vgextend.
