2. Installation Instructions
To install VxFS 5.1 SP1 along with VxVM 5.1 SP1 (optional), you must complete
the steps provided in this section. If you require a system with VxFS 5.0 and LVM,
see the “HP-UX 11i Version 3 Update and Install Guide, September 2009”. To

However, if you want a system with both VxFS 5.1 SP1 and VxVM 5.1 SP1, you
must complete the steps provided in this section.
NOTE:
HP does not support mixed versions of VxFS and VxVM.
Setting up a System with VxFS and VxVM
5.1
This section provides the steps to be followed if you want a system with VxFS and
VxVM 5.1 SP1 while installing (or updating) to the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2011
OEUR and later. You can obtain the Base-VxFS-51 and Base-VxVM-51 bundles
from the Independent media set.
NOTE:
All Disk Group versions supported by VxVM 4.1, VxVM 5.0 and VxVM 5.0.1 are
also supported by VxVM 5.1 SP1. All Disk layouts supported by VxFS 4.1, VxFS
5.0 and VxFS 5.0.1 are also supported by VxFS 5.1 SP1.
To setup a VxFS 5.1 SP1 and VxVM 5.1 SP1 based system, complete the
following steps:
1. Copy the HP-UX 11i v3 March 2011 OEUR or later Operating Environment
(OE) into a SD depot.
