Scope of this document
Extended Distance Clusters have to obey a number of configuration rules. Only rules and best
practices relating to VxVM/CVM in an EDC are covered in this document. Since CFS is based on
CVM the information presented in this whitepaper applies to EDC clusters with raw CVM volumes as
well as to those with a CFS.
General rules and information regarding LVM MirrorDisk/UX in an EDC are described in official
product documentation like the release notes, product manuals, and configuration guides. Most of the
information in this white paper is specific to SMS A.01.0x (based on VxVM/CVM 4.1) on HP-UX 11i
v2 with some SMS A.02.00 (based on VxVM/CVM 5.0) information.
