Serviceguard Extended Distance Cluster (EDC) with VxVM/CVM Mirroring on HP-UX, May 2008

Example VxVM/CVM configuration
The disk group and volume configuration must follow the same general guidelines as the hardware
configuration. To survive a data center outage, each volume must have one copy of the data located
in each data center. VxVM/CVM provides a mirroring functionality that can store one plex of each
volume in each data center.
Figure 2 shows the volumevol01” mirrored across datacenter “DC1” and “DC2”:
The plex “vol01-01” is built with a subdisk “DC1-disk01-01” that is carved out of a VM disk
DC1-disk01” which is located in data center “DC1”
The plex “vol01-02” is built with a subdisk “DC2-disk01-01” that is carved out of a VM disk
DC2-disk01” which is located in data center “DC2”
