Installing Full VxVM in Interactive Mode
To install Full VxVM in the interactive mode, complete the following steps:
1. Enter the swinstall command in the interactive mode, as follows:
# swinstall -s <depot-path>
For more information on supported options, see swinstall (1M).
2. Mark the B9116DB bundle on the SD Install window.
3. Select Actions, and click Install. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
NOTE: The B9116DB bundle contains a license for the Full VxVM 5.0.1 functionality.
Verifying the Full VxVM (B9116DB) Installation
Verify the Full VxVM (B9116DB) installation by enter the following command:
# swverify B9116DB
For more information on the supported options, see swverify (1M).
Use the vxlicrep command to check for the installed licenses.
Installing Storage Management For Oracle (SMO)
NOTE: If you install the SMO bundles, you do not need to install the Full VxVM and OnlineJFS
licenses, because these are part of the SMO bundles.
Install the HP SMO Standard (T2789DB) software by entering the following command:
# swinstall -s <depot-path> T2789DB
NOTE: Starting from the SMO 5.0.1 release, the SMO Premium bundle (T2790DB) is deprecated.
Installing CVM [B9117DB] on HP-UX 11i v3
To install CVM on HP-UX 11i v3, complete the following steps:
1. Use a clean ignited HP-UX 11i v3 system.
2. If the ignited system has Base-VxVM 4.1 already installed on it, do not clean the system before
installing 5.0.1 v3
3. Install Base-VxFS-501 , Base-VxTools-501, Base-VxVM-501, and VxFS-SDK-501 by following
the instructions discussed in the previous sections.
4. Install CVM [B9117DB] by entering the following command:
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <-depot_source> B9117DB
Cold-Installing VxVM 5.0.1 and VxFS 5.0.1 with HP-UX 11i v3
This section describes the process to cold-install a system with HP-UX 11i v3, VxVM 5.0.1, and
VxFS 5.0.1. A depot with the HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment (OE) and a depot with the
Veritas software are used for the installation. VxFS 4.1 is included on the HP-UX 11i v3 OE, and
VxVM 5.0.1 and VxFS 5.0.1 are distributed separately.
Preparing the Ignite-UX Server
To prepare the Ignite-UX server, complete the following steps:
1. Enter the swinstall command to install Ignite-UX version C.7.3.144 (available September,
2007) or later on an Ignite-UX server. You can confirm the Ignite software version by entering
the command swlist | grep –i ign, or by viewing the contents of the /opt/ignite/
Version file.
