1. Stop activity on all Storage Management for Oracle volumes.
For example, stop any applications such as databases that access the volumes and unmount
any file systems that have been created on the volumes.
2. If you have any external Array Policy Modules (APMs) installed, uninstall the APMs. The
following warning message is displayed during the operating system upgrade:
WARNING: The file '/usr/conf/mod/dmpXXX.1' does not contain valid
kernel module
This message can be ignored and does not affect the functionality of Storage Management
for Oracle.
3. Upgrade from HP-UX 11i v2 to the latest available HP-UX 11i v3 fusion release. This upgrade
will install Base-VxVM 5.0 by default.

All disk groups created using Storage Management for Oracle 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v2 are
accessible by HP-UX 11i v3 Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1.
4. If patches to HP-UX 11i v3 are required, apply the patches before upgrading the product.
5. Install Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1 for HP-UX 11i v3:
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s <depot-path> T2789DB
6. Configure Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1 HP-UX 11i v3 using the installsf
-configure option. For information on configuring your system after the installation, see
“Configuring Your System after the Installation” (page 39).
Upgrading from Storage Management for Oracle 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v3
to Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1 on HP-UX 11i v3
This section discusses the procedure to upgrade Storage Management for Oracle 5.0 on HP-UX
11i v3 to Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1 on HP-UX 11i v3. After successful completion of
the upgrade, any disk groups that were created in Storage Management for Oracle 5.0 can be
accessed by Storage Management for Oracle 5.0.1.
To upgrade from Storage Management for Oracle 5.0 on HP–UX 11i v3 to Storage Management
for Oracle 5.0.1 on HP-UX 11i v3, complete the following steps:
1. Stop activity on all Storage Management for Oracle volumes.
For example, stop any applications such as databases that access the volumes and unmount
any file systems that have been created on the volumes.
2. Upgrade the HP-UX operating system to the latest available HP-UX 11i v3 fusion release.
This upgrade will install Base-VxVM 5.0 by default.
