Veritas File System 5.0 Release Notes
Known Issues
Chapter 1 23
PHCO_33308 required for LVM commands to recognize disk layout Version 7
When reducing a volume, LVM checks the volume to prevent any part of the existing file system from
being thrown away. Likewise, when an LVM physical volume is created, LVM ensures that it is not
clobbering an existing file system.
However, LVM does not recognize a VxFS 5.0 file system with Disk Layout Version 7, which is the
default Disk Layout Version in VxFS 5.0. Install PHCO_33308 for LVM to work with Disk Layout
Version 7.
PHCO_33238 required for swapon command to recognize disk layout Version 7
The swapon command does not recognize a VxFS file system with Disk Layout Version 7, and
therefore does not produce a warning while using a device that has such a file system. Install
PHCO_33238 to enhance the swapon command to recognize the VxFS Disk Layout Version 7.
The fsck command option -m does not recognize a VxVM volume root partition
The fsck -m command does not recognize a VxVM volume root partition and fails when the file system
is mounted. This occurs because the device id of the block device and the device id of the character
device are different for VxVM volumes.
ncheck dumps core under some conditions
The ncheck command dumps core on a file system containing a file that has a pathname length
exceeding 1024 characters.
The -i option of the diskusg command is not supported on file systems with disk layout Version 7
The -i option of the diskusg command, which is used to ignore the disk usage of the specified file
systems, does not work on file systems with Disk Layout Version 7.
Ioctls are not supported on the File Change Log file
Ioctls are not supported on the File Change Log file. Therefore, running commands such as
fsapadm, setext, fiostat, and fsmap on the FCL file is not supported since these commands use
an internal ioctl to implement their functionality.
OnlineJFS has the same product and fileset name as the 4.1
The OnlineJFS 5.0 package for 5.0 uses the same product name and fileset name as the OnlineJFS 4.1
package, however the version is displayed as 5.0 and the appropriate license are installed.
