Restore the backup created in step 2 to the new VxFS file system.

Restart the database.
Converting native file systems to VxFS with Quick I/O
If you are currently using file systems native to your operating system, use the
procedure to upgrade each file system used by the database to a VxFS file system
with Quick I/O.
To convert a native file system to VxFS with Quick I/O

Shut down the database.

Remove the entry for the UFS file system from the /etc/filesystems file.

Create a backup of the HFS file system.

Unmount the HFS file system.

Remove the entry for the HFS file system from the /etc/fstab file.

Create a VxFS file system of the same size as the original HFS file system,
using the mount point where the HFS file system was originally mounted.

Preallocate Quick I/O files using qiomkfile.

Restore the backup that you created earlier to the Quick I/O files in the new
VxFS file system.

Restart the database.
Upgrading from earlier VxFS version layouts
Before starting the upgrade process, make sure the following conditions have
been met:
■ Perform a full backup of the file system before upgrading to a new
disk layout.
