About the SFDB repository
The Storage Foundation for Databases (SFDB) repository stores metadata
information required by Storage Foundation for Oracle software. This information
includes data about user databases, snapshot databases, storage configuration,
scheduled tasks, and storage statistics.
In prior releases of Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle, the repository was
stored on the local host as plain text files, which made the repository vulnerable
to corruption or other errors. Also, repository information could not be accessed
from a secondary host.
In this release of Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle, the repository is stored
in a relational database and is managed by a lightweight embedded relational
DBMS, called VxDBMS. VxDBMS is a special OEM version of a Sybase ASA
(Adaptive Server Anywhere) DBMS, which is delivered and supported by Symantec.
The SFDB repository database consists of a database file, dbed_db.db, and
