Providing a fixed amount of CPU resources
WLM enables you to give a workload group a fixed amount of CPU resources (cores), reserving that
amount for your workload group.
To set up a fixed CPU allocation using the configuration wizard:
NOTE
Usage of the WLM wizard requires Java™ Runtime Environment
version 1.4.2 or later. (Starting with WLM A.03.04, Java 1.5 or later
is required.) For PRM-based configurations, PRM C.03.00 or later is
required (to take advantage of the latest updates to WLM, use the latest
version of PRM available).
1. Log in as root.
2. Be sure your DISPLAY environment variable is set, and then start the wizard:
# /opt/wlm/bin/wlmcw
3. Enter the maximum amount of CPU resources (cores) the system will have. The wizard estimates the
maximum value. Confirm or edit the estimate. The value you enter should account for changes in
the CPU/core count caused by Instant Capacity and other such adjustments.
