HP Caliper 5.3 User Guide (5900-1558, February 2011)

sampled
measurement
A measurement that measures your program's performance at regular intervals, based on CPU
events, recording the current program location and selected performance metrics. See “Sampled
Measurements” (p. 26).
scgprof
measurement
A measurement, provided by the scgprof measurement configuration file, that measures and
reports (an inexact) call graph profile, produced by sampling the performance monitoring unit
(PMU) to determine function calls.
system-wide
measurement
A measurement that is performed on all CPUs in the system. Compare with per-process
measurement.
total_cpu
measurement
The non-preferred name for the ecount measurement. This name was used in releases prior to
Release 3.9.
translation
lookaside buffer
(TLB)
In the Integrity servers processor family, a buffer that holds virtual to physical mappings. It contains
cross-references between the virtual and real addresses of recently referenced pages of memory,
and thus functions like a quick-lookup index of the pges in main memory that have been most
recently accessed.
trap In the context of the traps measurement and the --traps-reported option, a trap, interrupt,
or fault.
traps measurement A measurement, provided by the traps measurement configuration file, that collects and reports
a profile of traps, interrupts, and faults.
view In the HP Caliper GUI, a tabbed page that groups related tasks.
virtual hash page
table (VHPT)
In the Integrity servers processor family, an extension of the translation lookaside buffer (TLB)
hierarchy. The VHPT is designed to enhance virtual address translation performance.
workspace A directory where HP Caliper puts data when you are running the graphical user interface (GUI).
