1 HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator (iSCSI-00) overview The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator (iSCSI-00) is a software driver that allows HP-UX to access SCSI mass storage devices, using TCP/IP on Ethernet networks. iSCSI is an abbreviation of Internet Small Computer System Interface. The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator is a software implementation of the iSCSI protocol (RFC 3720) based on the HP-UX host TCP/IP stack.
Known problems and limitations The following problems are known to exist in version B.11.31.03f: • Manpage for Address resolution daemon (/opt/iscsi/bin/iscsi_resolvd) is wrongly delivered as iscsi-resolvd(1M). Corrective action: To view manpage for Address resolution daemon (/opt/iscsi/bin/ iscsi_resolvd) use following command: # man iscsi-resolvd • Consecutive ioscan outputs are different. Most consecutive ioscan outputs are identical.
• The scsimgr port and node display values are in hex format. The scsimgr command displays iSCSI port and node names in hex format instead of ASCII format. Therefore, this information is not useful. Corrective action: This issue will be corrected in a subsequent release of the scsimgr command. • iSCSI Software Initiator installation problems occur when upgrading HP-UX. When performing an OE update from HP-UX 11i v2 to HP-UX 11i v3 using Update-UX, the iSCSI product is not installed properly.
