Display With -v Option
If you specify the -v option, lvdisplay
also lists the distribution of each logical volume across the phy-
sical volumes of the volume group and the mapping of each logical extent of the logical volume on the
physical extents of the physical volume.
--- Distribution of logical volume ---
The distribution of logical volume lv_path across the physical volumes of the volume group, is
displayed in the following columns. Note that for a space efficient snapshot logical volume with no
unshared extents, this section will not be displayed.
PV Name The block device path name of the physical volume where the logical extents
are allocated.
PVNUM The Physical Volume Number in VG (if
-k option is specified).
LE on PV Number of logical extents allocated on the physical volume. Note that this
field is not displayed for space efficient snapshot logical volumes.
PE on PV Number of physical extents allocated on the physical volume. Note that this
field is not displayed for space efficient snapshot logical volumes.
Unshared LE Number of logical extents unshared on the physical volume. Note that this
field is only displayed for the snapshot logical volume and for volume group
version 2.2 and higher.
Unshared PE Number of physical extents unshared on the physical volume. Note that this
field is only displayed for the snapshot logical volume and for volume group
version 2.2 and higher.
--- Logical extents --- or --- Unshared logical extents ---
The mapping of logical extents onto physical extents, as displayed in the following columns. The
header for normal logical volumes is displayed as: --- Logical extents ---. The header
for space-efficient snapshot logical volumes is displayed as: --- Unshared logical extents
---. Note that for a space efficient snapshot logical volume with no unshared extents, this section
will not be displayed.
LE Logical extent number.
PV1 The block device path name of the physical volume that corresponds to the
location of the first physical extent of the logical extent.
PE1 First physical extent number allocated to the logical extent.
Status 1 Status of the first physical extent: stale or current. For a fully allocated
snapshot, the status can be shared.
The following columns are displayed if there is at least one mirror copy:
PV2 The block device path name of the physical volume that corresponds to the
location of the second physical extent (first copy) of the logical extent.
PE2 Second physical extent number allocated to the logical extent.
Status 2 Status of the second physical extent: stale or current. For a fully allo-
cated snapshot, the status can be shared.
The following columns are displayed if there are at least two mirror copies:
PV3 The block device path name of the physical volume that corresponds to the
location of the third physical extent (second copy) of the logical extent.
PE3 Third physical extent number allocated to the logical extent.
Status 3 Status of the third physical extent: stale or current. For a fully allocated
snapshot, the status can be shared.
If there are more than 3 physical extents associated with one logical extent (applicable for logical
volumes created within volume groups versions 2.0 or higher only), then a second line of physical
extent(s) is displayed for the logical extent. The rest of the line contains the following columns:
The following columns are displayed if there are at least three mirror copies:
