For OA Based Partition Management Systems
pardefault(1M)
NAME
pardefault - display or change default values of certain nPartition attributes
SYNOPSIS
pardefault
[-t os_name][-G memtype
:size][-L slm_value][-O os_name][-R [os_name]]
[
-T hyper_thread_flag][
-V flag]
Remarks
The
pardefault command is only supported on systems with Onboard Administrator (OA) based parti-
tion management.
DESCRIPTION
pardefault allows the user to change the current default values of certain generic nPartition attri-
butes or attributes specific to an operating system (OS) type.
Note that generic nPartition attributes are maintained independently for each supported OS type to pro-
vide better configuration flexibility. This means that an OS type will always be selected during nPartition
creation, with the default OS type being used if none is explicitly selected.
pardefault without any options will display the original and current default settings.
pardefault
with only the -t option will display the original and current default settings for the target OS.
pardefault -R will reset all the default settings to their original defaults. If target OS is specified,
then only the defaults of the target OS will be reset.
When the command is invoked from the Onboard Administrator (OA), it requires operator privilege level
or above.
Please refer to the HP Superdome 2 Partitioning Administrator Guide for a description of the partition
management terms used in this man page.
Options and Arguments
pardefault recognizes the following command line options and arguments:
-t os_name Specifies the target OS type for which the default is displayed or changed. The
valid string for os_name is the same as those supported by the parcreate com-
mand, for example, HPUX_11iV3 (case insensitive). See the
-O option in
parcreate (1M).
The defaults specified using the remaining
pardefault options (except -O) will
be applied to any nPartition created subsequently with this OS type. If the
-t
option is not specified, the default value is changed for all subsequently created
nPartitions independent of the OS type, and this value is updated for each sup-
ported OS type.
Note: The
-t and -O options are mutually exclusive.
-G memtype :size Specifies the default value for memory granularity (ILM or SLM) for an nPartition
in megabytes. The valid strings for memtype are case-insensitive ilm and slm.
-L slm_value Specifies the default value for the amount of non-interleaved memory per socket for
all blades in an nPartition. The valid values for slm_value are the same as those
supported by the parcreate command. See parcreate (1M).
-O os_name Specifies the default OS type to use when nPartitions are created. This is applied to
any subsequent nPartition that is created. The valid strings for os_name are the
same as those supported by the parcreate command. See the -O option in
parcreate(1M).
Note that the
-t option is used to specify a target OS type for which the defaults
are to be set, whereas the -O option is used to define the default OS type to be used
when any nPartition is created.
Note: The
-O option cannot be used with any other options.
-R [os_name] Reset default values. os_name is the name of the OS type whose defaults are be to
reset. If no os_name is provided, all defaults will be reset to their original default.
The valid strings for os_name are the same as those supported by the parcreate
command. See the -O option in parcreate (1M).
