9 Monitoring Jobs
Overview
Use the Jobs tab to do the following:
Review the task, status, completion (represented as a percent) as well as the start/end time of Insight
Recovery “jobs. A job in Insight Recovery is an automated, multi-step process associated with site role
reversal (either changing a Recovery Site to a Primary Site or vice versa).
Refresh job state information display.
“Deleting and Cancelling Jobs ”
The Jobs screen shows jobs that have completed or are currently in progress. The type of job and involved
entities are displayed, as well as job ID, status, completion percentage, and start/end times.
Items in the operation column (for example, “primary->recovery” or “recovery->primary”) are linked to a
detailed log. To view the log for an item in the operation column, click on that item.
By clicking on the job ID, you can see “sub-jobs” associated with the “parent job. For example, a
recovery->primary” job has a sub-job for each Recovery Group that is failed over. Likewise, each Recovery
Group “recovery->primary” sub-job will have a Storage Replication Group "recovery->primary" sub-job,
and a logical server activate sub-job associated with it.
Checking the Progress of a Site Role Change
Use the Jobs screen to check on the progress and results of the site role change process. If any DR Protected
logical server was not activated/deactivated successfully, you can check the log information and correct the
problem. When corrected, you can restart the role change process. A site’s role” (either Primary or Recovery
Site) is not updated until the “Change local site to Primary” (or "Change local site to Recovery") has completed
successfully. Therefore, if a previous attempt to change the role of the local site failed for any reason, it can
be restarted after the reason for the failure has been corrected.
If the reason why some Recovery Groups were not started was due to a lack of available target servers at
the Recovery Site, you can choose to evacuate some other logical servers that are running low-priority
workloads from target servers that are licensed for HP Insight Recovery and are capable of hosting the
Recovery logical server. When done, restart the role change process.
Notes
Recovery groups that are in maintenance mode are ignored during a site failover (recovery->primary)
operation, and therefore will not affect the determination of whether the role reversal jobs are successful
or not.
