The local and remote site information is configured in this step. Typically, once configured this information
is rarely changed, but can be updated at any time.
1
The Storage Replication Group information is configured in this step. In Insight Recovery, a Storage
Replication Group is a generic term for what is referred to as a “DR Group” in Continuous Access EVA
terminology.
2
A Recovery Group is an Insight Recovery concept that pairs a single logical server with a single Storage
Replication Group. The total set of all Recovery Groups form the basis for what is failed over from the
Primary Site to the Recovery Site in the event of a site failover.
3
Job An automated, multi-step process associated with site role reversal (either changing a Recovery
Site to a Primary Site or vice versa).
local site The set of managed nodes and corresponding CMS with which the user's browser is now
interacting.
logical server A logical server is a management abstraction that simplifies and optimizes the provisioning,
management, and movement of a server -- whether it be a physical server or a virtual machine.
The logical server concept was introduced by Insight Dynamics -- VSE.
maintenance mode A Recovery Group at the Recovery Site can be placed in Maintenance Mode for testing purposes.
planned failover A failover of all Recovery Groups from the Primary Site to the Recovery Site initiated in anticipation
of an imminent disaster or planned downtime at the Primary Site.
primary site The site where all logical servers being managed by Insight Recovery are activated.
recovery group A pairing of a single logical server and a single Storage Replication Group, which has an
associated "recovery group start order" number associated with it. During a site failover, recovery
groups are failed over from the Primary Site to the Recovery Site in the specified order, i.e.
according to the "recovery group start order" numbers associated with each recovery group.
