HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.0 software without OpenSSH on HP ProLiant and Integrity Servers Running Microsoft® Windows®

Introduction
The HP Matrix Operating Environment software product includes several features which depend on OpenSSH
being installed on HP ProLiant and Integrity managed servers running Microsoft® Windows®. However,
some environments are not using OpenSSH and prefer to avoid installing OpenSSH on all managed systems.
For those environments, HP Matrix Operating Environment is supported. However, some features of the
solution relating to the installation of agents, troubleshooting and partition management will not be fully
functional without OpenSSH.
Agent installation
HP Matrix Operating Environment (MOE) software provides a tool for configuring managed systems and
deploying agents on managed systems which rely upon OpenSSH being installed and configured on HP
Integrity servers running Microsoft® Windows®. The tool is found under the HP Systems Insight Manager
menu Configure -> Managed System Setup Wizard... For environments where OpenSSH is not
installed, the HP Matrix Operating Environment agents can be manually installed by following these steps:
1. Manually copy one or more of the following files contained in
<MOE Install dir>\depot (Default install directory is
C:\Program Files\HP\Virtual Server Environment\) on the central management server
to a temporary location on the managed system such as C:\temp.
For HP Integrity servers, copy the following file
WMIUtilProvider64.msi
For HP Integrity nPartition servers, copy the following files
WMIUtilProvider64.msi
WMINParProvider64.msi
For HP Integrity virtual machine Guests running Microsoft® Windows®, copy the following files
WMIUtilProvider64.msi
WMIHpvmProvider64.msi (for Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003)
WMIHpvmProvider64_win08.msi (for Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008)
You can optionally copy WMIMapper64.msi as needed.
2. On the managed system, execute the copied file or files. No reboot is required for the installations.
Troubleshooting communications
There are three areas of troubleshooting which can be affected when OpenSSH is not configured on HP
ProLiant and Integrity servers running Microsoft® Windows®.
Communication link verification
HP Matrix Operating Environment provides a troubleshooting tool for diagnosing communication issues
between the central management server and the managed system. It can be found under the HP Systems
Insight Manager menu Diagnose ->Troubleshoot Matrix Operating Environment -> Check CMS
to Managed Node Communication... This tool will report failures for the SSH port open and SSH
