HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 and 7.3 Update 1 Infrastructure Orchestration User Guide

On the Convert Template to use Global Cost Units dialog, enter a Conversion Factor, which is a
positive decimal or integer value. For example, if the cost information in a template is expressed
in euros (€) and the global cost unit set in the hpio.properties file is dollars ($), convert the
template from euros to dollars by entering a Conversion Factor equal to the current exchange rate,
such as 1.3358. If the current global cost unit is $/year and the cost information in the template
is entered in dollars per month, enter a Conversion Factor of 12 to convert the template from months
to years.
Enter a value of 1 to convert the template to the global cost unit without changing the values. For
example, if the global cost unit is euros and the information in the template contains the correct
amounts in euros but is expressed as dollars, enter 1 to convert the template from dollars to euros.
Specifying cost for customization
To specify cost deltas for making template customizations, click the Cost button, and then select
the Customizations tab. You can apply custom cost adjustments for the following OS and network
values:
OS Type – displays the change in cost per server of the chosen OS.
Virtualization Type – displays the change in cost per server for virtualization.
IP Assignment Type – displays the change in cost per IP address for a given assignment type.
Network – displays the change in cost per IP address for each network in the template.
The values that are entered show the changes to server costs when services are created and
customized in these areas. When an architect enters these values into a template, services that are
created and customized use the changed costs. Chargeback reporting is updated accordingly.
For more information, see “Specifying fixed costs for templates and services ” (page 154).
Chargeback metrics collected and reported
The following table describes the report metrics and their values.
Table 7 Chargeback reported metrics
ValueMetric
Measured in minutes. Represents the time the resource was allocated to
an infrastructure service. Collected for all resources inside an infrastructure,

Measured in minutes. Represents the time that the logical server is up and

Chargeback metrics collected after an upgrade from a version older than Matrix OE
7.1
When upgrading from a previous version of Matrix OE to 7.3 or 7.3.1, the chargeback component
automatically acknowledges the existence of deployed services and starts collecting chargeback
metrics from the upgrade time forward. For these services, the chargeback component can report
allocation time, uptime, disk size, number of IP addresses, and number of servers.
Templates and services from earlier versions (prior to 7.1) do not have a cost frequency assigned.
Therefore, costs for existing services are not tracked or reported, and negative values are returned
for cost metrics for those services. In order to have costs reported correctly for these services, a
