HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 and 7.3 Update 1 Infrastructure Orchestration User Guide

IMPORTANT: User-defined properties will be included in the Request XML and passed to
Operations Orchestration workflows. Security should be considered before including sensitive
information in custom attributes. HP suggests indirectly indicating sensitive information. For example,
instead of specifying external system credentials, the credentials could be stored in a script and
determined inferred by the FQDN or IP address of the server, such as the following pseudo-code:
IF ip=11.22.33.44 THEN password = Secret123!
ELSE IF ip=55.66.77.88 THEN password =DontTell123!
IMPORTANT: Custom attributes names are case sensitive.
The size of a custom attribute value is limited to 1024 bytes. If more information is required, HP
suggests you either use the custom attribute as a pointer to a file on the media server, or to split
the information into multiple custom attributes.
The ability to create custom attributes by Matrix infrastructure orchestration enables vast potential
for server customization both during and after OS installation. Remember that the name and value
of the custom attributes are under the control of the architect designing the template. Every server
within a server group will have the same custom attributes defined from the user-defined properties,
but different server groups can have different custom attributes defined by the user-defined properties.
