v
vpmon(5) vpmon(5)
On a standalone system, the OS owns the real time-of-day clock. In vPars,
vpmon emulates the time-of-
day clock for each virtual partition. To do this,
vpmon keeps track of the drift value that indicates the
time with which the real time-of-day clock differs from the time that each virtual partition OS has. This
information is stored in the virtual partition database. If the administrator makes any changes to the real
time-of-day clock through the Boot Console Handler (BCH), the drift value in the database becomes invalid.
In this situation, the administrator may use this command to set to zero the drift for all the partitions.
VPARS MONITOR INFORMATION LOOKUP COMMANDS
Name
cat - list a file
Synopsis
cat filename [openonly]
Description
The vpmon cat command is similar to the HP-UX
cat command. However, only one filename may be
specified. When the optional string
openonly is given, the command will return after printing "open
succeeded
" if it was able to open the file in read-only mode.
This command can display printable files that reside in the /stand directory and its subdirectories.
This command is functional only when no partition is active.
Name
getauto - display AUTO file contents
Description
The getauto command lists the contents of the AUTO file in the LIF directory. When the system is boot-
ing up and when the global automatic booting is true, the ISL reads the contents of this file to load the
appropriate OS. For vPars, you can set this file to
hpux /stand/vpmon -a to make the system boot
all the vPars whose autoboot is set on. See mkboot(1M) for more details.
This command is functional only when no partition is active.
Name
lifls - list the LIF directory
Synopsis
lifls [directory-name]
Description
The
lifls command can be used to list the contents of the LIF directory on the boot device.
This command is functional only when no partition is active.
Name
ls - list a directory
Synopsis
ls [-ailnFH][directory-name]
Description
The vpmon ls command is similar to the HP-UX ls command.
This command can display the contents of the /stand directory and its subdirectories. Only one target
directory may be given. If more than one directory is given, then the contents of the last directory are
listed. If no target directory is given, the contents of the current directory (that is, /stand) are listed.
This command is functional only when no partition is active.
Options
The -a, -i, -l, -n, and -F options have the same effect as for the ls command. The -H option is
equivalent to the -F option.
