HP-UX SNAplus2 R7 Administration Guide

Conguring Dependent LUs
Dening LU Types 03
6 Conguring Dependent LUs
This chapter provides instructions for conguring LUs and LU pools to support user applications that use 3270,
TN3270, RJEand LUA communications. To use these, you must congure dependent LUs.
Before you can congure the resources described in this chapter, you must perform the following conguration:
Congure the node as described in Section 4.2,
Conguring the Node.
Congure connectivity as described in Chapter 5, Dening Connectivity Components. For 3270, TN3270,
RJEand LUA, you must congure the link to support dependent LU trafc.
You do not need to congure a direct link to the host if you are using upstream PU concentration or DLUR.
For more information, see Section 9.2, Conguring PU Concentration and Section 5.3, Dening DLUR PUs.
6.1 Dening LU Types 03
You must congure dependent LUs of types 03 to support communication with a host system. You can use the
information in this section to dene an LU to support 3270, RJE or LUA. You can also dene a range of LUs, to
congure multiple LUs of the same type in a single operation.
To congure an LU of types 03, use one of the following methods:
Motif administration program
Select one of the following from the
Services menu on the Node window.
3270 and either
New 3270 display LU
or
New 3270 printer LU
RJE and New RJE LU
LUA and New LUA LU
TN server
and New host LU
Command-line administration program
Issue one of the following commands:
define_lu_0_to_3
define_lu_0_to_3_range
You can use the advanced dialog to restrict access to a specic SSCP, or to specify an inactivity timeout.
Note
If you are conguring a 3270 display LU for use with the SNAplus2 3270 emulation
program, and users may use this LU for le transfer, the host conguration for this LU
must specify DFT mode (3279 conguration), and not CUT mode (screen mode). Although
there will be no difference when using the LU for 3270 emulation, SNAplus2 does not
support CUT mode le transfer. If an LU is congured at the host as CUT mode, any
attempts to transfer les on a session using this LU will fail.
Check the host logmode table entry for the LU with your host administrator. The query bit
in the PSERVIC operand of the MODEENT macro must be set to indicate a DFT mode
LU; this means that the third hexadecimal digit (upper digit of the second byte) of the
PSERVIC operand must be
8.
