HP-UX SNAplus2 R7 Administration Guide

Conguring APPC Communication
Dening Partner LUs
To dene a remote node, issue the following command:
define_directory_entry
To dene a partner LU, issue the following command:
define_partner_lu
7.2.1 Remote Node Conguration Parameters
The following parameter is required for remote node conguration:
Nodes SNA network name
The fully qualied CP name of the remote node. The value entered on this dialog must match the CP name
congured at that remote node.
7.2.2 Additional Conguration
After performing the remote node conguration, continue with the following conguration tasks:
To dene a partner LU, see Section 7.3, Dening Partner LUs.
To dene an invokable TP, see Section 7.4, Dening TPs.
To dene a mode, see Section 7.5, Dening Modes and Classes of Service.
To dene CPI-C side information, see Section 7.6, Dening CPI-C Side Information.
To dene APPC security, see Section 7.7, Conguring APPC Security.
To congure 5250 communication, see Chapter 8, Conguring User Applications.
7.3 Dening Partner LUs
If both the local node and the remote node are network nodes, or if one is a network node and the other is an end
node, and your application uses an LU name to refer to the partner LU, there is no need to dene the partner LU,
because it can be dynamically located using APPN. However, if your application uses an LU alias to refer to its
partner LU, you should add a partner LU alias denition.
If either the local node or the remote node is a LEN node, you must dene the partner LU as a child of the remote
node, because a LEN node cannot take part in dynamic location of LUs. If your application uses the control point
LU of the remote node as its partner LU, the control point LU was dened automatically when you dened the
remote node.
You can use wildcards to congure multiple partner LUs that are all located on the same remote node and whose
names start with the same characters. Using wildcards means that you do not need to congure each partner LU
individually.
To congure a partner LU, use one of the following methods:
Motif administration program
You can use the Motif administration program to add a partner LU alias, add a denition of a partner LU on
a specic remote node, or dene multiple partner LUs using wildcards. Select
APPC, New partner LUs, and
one of the following from the
Services menu on the Node window.
Partner LU alias
Partner LU on remote node
