Emulation User and Group Conguration Parameters
The following parameters are required for each 3270 emulator user denition:
User Name
The name of the emulator user.
For users running the emulation program on HP-UX systems, thisis the name used to log in on that computer.
The name is set up by the administrator of the HP-UX system.
For Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11, or on Win16 subsystems on Windows NT, Windows
95, or OS/2, this name is the
snauser eld in the Conguration section of the
sna.ini le (which usually
resides in the c:\windows directory). For the Win32 client running on Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows
XP, or Windows Server 2003, this name matches a login name dened on the Windows system.
Group Name
When adding a user group, supply the name of the group to which the user belongs.
For users running the emulation program on HP-UX systems, thisname is set up by the administrator of the
HP-UX system.
For Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11, or on Win16 subsystems on Windows NT, Windows
95, or OS/2, this name is the
snagroup eld in the Conguration section of the sna.ini le (which usually
resides in the c:\windows directory). For the Win32 client running on Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows
XP, or Windows Server 2003, you can nd the group name through the Windows Registry.
For a user group, the remaining elds in the dialog apply to all members of the group.
You can set up a default user denition that is used by all users who do not have their own individual or
group denitions. To do this, specify a user or group name of DEFAULT.
Style File
This eld is relevant only to users of the SNAplus2 3270 program.
If the user has a style le, enter the le name. If there is no style le, the user runs the emulation program
with a default style.
The style le determines the appearance and behavior of the emulation screens and keyboard for the emulator
user. These may be different for different users.
When entering the style le name, you should omit the .stu extension.
If the user species a style le on the command line, that le takes the place of the le specied in this eld.
Style le access
The users privileges for accessing and modifying the style le. This eld is used only by the SNAplus2
3270 emulation program.
Restricted
The user cannot specify a style le at the command line when starting the emulation program, and
cannot modify the style le settings from within the emulator.
