HP-UX SNAplus2 R7 Administration Guide

Managing SNAplus2 Client/Server Systems
Managing HP-UX Clients
If no applications on the client use this function, you do not need to include this section.
The only option in this section is as follows:
CSVTBLG
The full path name of the le containing the user-dened Table G conversion table. This parameter is required
if CSV applications need to perform Table G character conversion (there is no default); otherwise it is optional.
11.4 Managing HP-UX Clients
UNIX
Client information for a HP-UX client is stored in the sna_clnt.net le, which is created when you install the
SNA software on the client. That le must be present before you can enable the client software.
11.4.1 Enabling and disabling SNAplus2 on HP-UX clients
To enable the SNAplus2 software on a client running on a HP-UX system, enter the following command at the
command prompt:
snap start [ -t ]
When you install the client, the installation utility automatically updates the startup le to include the snap start
command. This ensures that the client is started automatically at system startup. If you do not want it to be started
automatically, you can remove or comment out this line, and then follow the instructions in this section to enable
the software manually.
The only option is as follows:
-t
Activates client/server tracing. This enables you to diagnose problems that occur during the clients attempt
to connect to a server. If you do not use this option, client/server tracing is inactive at all interfaces; you can
then activate it as required, using the command-line administration program
snapadmin.
This option is equivalent to selecting the Set all tracing on eld in the Motif administration program, except
that it does not enable DLC tracing.
Tracing degrades the performance of SNAplus2 components. After the software is enabled, you can use the
command-line administration program
snapadmin to stop tracing when it is no longer required. For more
information about tracing, refer to HP-UX SNAplus2 Diagnostics Guide.
To stop the SNAplus2 software on a client running on a HP-UX system, enter the following command at the
command prompt:
snap stop
11.4.2 HP-UX Client Network Data File (sna_clnt.net)
The sna_clnt.net le denes the SNAplus2 facilities available on a HP-UX client, and the servers the client
can access. (For information about the equivalent le on a Windows client, see Chapter 11, Managing SNAplus2
Client/Server Systems.)
It also includes information about setting up the IP port numbers that SNAplus2 uses for client/server
communications. The default port numbers should be suitable in most cases; you need to refer to this information
