1 HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager Release Notes Product model and description HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) version 6.1 centralizes network connectivity and workload mobility for HP BladeSystem servers that use Virtual Connect to access local area networks (LANs), storage area networks (SANs), and converged network environments. VCEM helps organizations to increase productivity, respond faster to workload and infrastructure changes, and reduce operating costs. Revision history VCEM 6.

Prerequisites VCEM 6.1 can be used to update existing installations of VCEM 1.20, 1.3x, 1.40 or 6.0, and is delivered on Insight Software media 6.1 which can be downloaded from http://www.hp.com/go/vcem. Issues and workarounds IMPORTANT: VCEM 6.1 supports the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser, but the underlying Virtual Connect Manager only supports IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode.
Reinstalling Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager If you attempt to remove an existing installation of VCEM and reinstall the same version or a later version, you might see the following error message: Failed to install Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager MAC/WWN database tables To resolve this situation, reinstall VCEM again because although the first reinstall attempt failed, the registry keys causing the problem are removed with the second installation attempt.
To validate that the problem has been corrected, browse to the Virtual Connect Managers that showed the incorrect message to ensure that the correct message is displayed. • Using VCEM 1.40 or 6.0 to disable SNMP on Virtual Connect Manager 2.30 can result in improper propagation of SNMP enablement to the VC Domain Group. This issue occurs if you use either VCEM 1.40 or 6.
Server power management VCEM might not correctly present the power state of a server when the server is powered off using VC Manager. Server profile operations • VCEM profile operations for Integrity server blades requires VC Domain versions 2.0x or later. • To create profiles for Integrity server blades that boot from SAN, you must manually configure the SAN boot entries in the blade server EFI console.

In the boot target configurations table, change all the target LUN fields to be within the allowed ranges (either a 3-digit decimal between 0-255, or a 16-digit hexadecimal between 0 and FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF).
