1 Updates and notes IMPORTANT: HP is phasing out the HP Vulnerability and Patch Manager software (VPM) from Insight Control. Technical support will be offered based on the Technical Support and Upgrade offerings for HP Insight Control sold through November 2009. HP Insight Control licenses include 1 year of Technical Support & Update, which you can upgrade to 3, 4, or 5 years.
• Issue: Patch acquisitions can generate events containing HTTP 300 errors for some older Microsoft® patches. Description: For example: Error downloading patch data for Bulletin MS02-050 at URL http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/terminalserver/downloads/critical/q329115/default.asp error code 300 Solution: HP is working to correct the metadata for these older patches. However, this maintenance is ongoing.
• Issue: If the patch repository is viewed before a patch acquisition is performed, a generic Radia internal error appears in the HP SIM event log. Solution: Wait until you get an event called “Completed VPM Acquisition” in All VPM Events list. Then, view patch repository. • Issue: Resolutions for some fixable vulnerabilities cause the local security policy to log more events.
Solution: To resolve this issue, stop the WMI and SNMP services, delete the Radia folder. Start the WMI and SNMP services again, and then perform another installation. • Issue: After licensing the target system from the Scan for vulnerability task, the Next button might not be enabled. Solution: To resolve this issue, refresh the screen, and then click Next. • Issue: The Vulnerability and Patch Manager Patch Agent is not installed on the target system when you perform the Scan for vulnerability task.
