Using HP WebQoS, you can configure, administer, operate, and monitor your system and control the sessions admitted to your web server so that it does not become overloaded. HP WebQoS on HP-UX What’s in This Version? • Request classification rules support IP masking. IP masking allows you to enter an * (asterisk) instead of a number in the last three octets of an IP address. The * represents the octets from 0 to 255. • HP WebQoS supports the Zeus Web Server1 version 3.3.6. • HP WebQoS supports the iPlanet Web Server2 version 4.1. • You can no longer enable or disable WebQoS. If you no longer wish to run WebQoS on your system, you should remove all WebQoS components.

HP-UX Prerequisites Computer: HP 9000 server Operating System: HP-UX 11.0 Memory: At least 128 MB Disk Space: 90 MB: 80 MB to install the WebQoS bundle and at least 10 MB for working files Web Server: iPlanet Web Server 4.1 SP2 or Zeus Web Server 3.3.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Installing HP WebQoS Upgrade the management user interface by uninstalling and then reinstalling the interface. You cannot use HP ServiceControl (an early version of WebQoS) on a system where you have installed and configured HP WebQoS. If the WebQoS setup script (described in the manual Configuring HP WebQoS on HP-UX) finds HP ServiceControl, you will see the following message: “Would you like to remove HPAdminControl now?” If you answer no, the Setup script exits the program.

HP WebQoS on HP-UX Installing HP WebQoS Installing WebQoS If you want to install WebQoS on more than one system, you may want to use a local software depot. Refer to the swcopy(1M) reference page for information on setting up a software depot. For an overview of Software Distributor (SD) commands, see the sd(5) reference page. Follow these steps to install WebQoS on HP-UX: 1. Become the root user on the target (destination) system. 2. Mount the CD containing WebQoS.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Installing HP WebQoS the installation is complete. If errors occur, refer to “Correcting Problems Reported by swinstall” for more information. 8. Exit swinstall. 9. Once the products have loaded successfully, unmount the CD. Correcting Problems Reported by swinstall The WebQoS installation performs a number of automated customizations for you. If one of the installation logfiles indicates a problem during installation, you may need to perform one or more of the steps manually.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Installing HP WebQoS Installing the Software The following steps explain how to install the management user interface software on a PC. Note that you can click the Cancel button at any time to quit the installation. 1. On the PC, from the Taskbar, choose Start > Programs > Command Prompt to open an MS-DOS window. 2. Using ftp, in binary mode, copy the file /opt/webqos/bin/HPWebQoS.exe from the HP-UX system where you installed WebQoS to your PC.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Installing HP WebQoS 11. At the Setup Complete screen, click Finish. After installation, a WebQoS Management User Interface icon appears on your desktop. You can launch WebQoS from the icon or by selecting Start > Programs > HP WebQoS > Management User Interface. After Installing WebQoS Go to the next section, “Required Patches” to find out which patches you need to install. Information on configuring and using HP WebQoS is contained in the manual Configuring HP WebQoS on HP-UX.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Required Patches Required Patches Patches To determine all patches applied to your system, type swlist -l file | grep PH Install the patches listed in Table 1-2, “HP-UX 11.0 Patches.” Patches can be obtained from the HP IT Resource Center web page at the URL http://itrc.hp.com/. If these or succeeding patches are not available, contact your HP support representative for the latest versions. Table 1-2 HP-UX 11.
HP WebQoS on HP-UX Required Patches 5. From the Patch Database web page, a. Select the Series 800 hardware and the 11.00 OS. b. Enter the complete patch number (include the four letters and underbar). c. Click on Go! 6. All patches that meet your search criteria are displayed in the Candidate Patch List web page. Find the patch you want (it may be the only patch that is displayed). If the patch you selected has been superseded, you will see a different patch displayed.
