a. Issue the following command:
# /opt/hptc/config/sbin/mcs_config
b. Restart Nagios. For more information, see “Stopping and Restarting Nagios” (page 115).
6. Examine the /opt/hptc/config/mcs_advExpected.static.db file to ensure that the
values for the MCS advanced setting are appropriate for your site.
Restart Nagios if you changed this file. For more information, see “Stopping and Restarting
Nagios” (page 115).
7. The /opt/hptc/nagios/etc/mcsAlertRules contains rules to trigger alerts for SNMP
traps. You can edit this file to add, remove, or modify these rules.
8. By default, the automatic drain and power-down actions by the MCS event handler is
disabled. This is indicated by the presence of the
/opt/hptc/nagios/var/mcsPoweroffsDisabled file.
Optionally, enter the following command to enable automatic node drain and power-down
actions for nodes under MCS control:
# /opt/hptc/sbin/manage_mcs_status -p enable
For more information on this command, see manage_mcs_status(8).
D.2 Regenerating the Nagios MCS Configuration
Use the following procedure to regenerate the Nagios MCS configuration file,
/opt/hptc/config/mcs.ini, and the local MCS Nagios configration file,
/opt/hptc/nagios/etc/mcs_local.cfg:
1. Use the text editor of your choice to edit the /opt/hptc/config/mcs.ini file to make
the appropriate configuration changes and save the file.
2. Issue the following command:
# /opt/hptc/config/sbin/mcs_config
3. Restart Nagios. For more information, see “Stopping and Restarting Nagios” (page 115).
D.3 Useful Administrative Commands
The following are useful operator commands for the HP MCS system; these commands reside
in the /opt/hptc/sbin directory:
manage_mcs_status
Use this command to:
Show current online or offline status of the HP MCS unit.
Set the online or offline status for all or specified MCS devices.
NOTE: MCS devices that are offline are not monitored.
Enable or disable the event handler to perform automatic node drains and to
power-down actions on the nodes under MCS control.
See manage_mcs_status(8) for additional information.
poweroff_mcs_nodes
Use this command to power off nodes associated with a specified MCS device manually or
to power off all nodes under MCS control.
When you use this command to power off an MCS device that is controlling one or more
service nodes, the nodes are powered off in the following order:
1. The Compute nodes
2. The Service nodes
3. The Head node
