Enter the letter b to return to the previous menu.
G.5 Modifying Node Role Assignments
The cluster configuration menu enables you to assign roles to specific nodes. “Role Definitions”
(page 216) provides definitions of all node roles and the services they provide.
Follow this procedure to modify role assignments:
1. From the command-line menu of the cluster_config utility, enter the letter m :
[L]ist Nodes, [M]odify Nodes, [A]nalyze, [H]elp, [P]roceed, [Q]uit: m
2. Supply the node name of the node you want to modify. All operations you perform from
this point are performed on this node until you specify a different node name.
Please enter node name or [C]ancel: n15
Current Node: n15
3. Enter the letter r at the following prompt to modify the role assignments on the specified
node:
[E]xternal Network Configuration, [R]oles, [H]elp, [B]ack: r
The following role information appears for the node:
[1] : avail_node_management
[2] : cisco_hsm
[3] : compute
[4] : console_network
[5] : disk_io
[6] : external
[7] : ldap_server
[8] : login
[9] : management_hub
[10] : management_server
[11] : nis_server
[12] : resource_management
[13] : voltaire_hsm
Current Node: n15
Current assigned roles: compute
Enter the number corresponding to the role or roles you want to assign to this
node. Use a space-separated list to specify multiple roles, for example, 1 3 5.
Or, enter 'c' to [C]ancel.
4. Specify the number or numbers that correspond to the role or roles you want to assign.
For this example, assume that you want to add a disk_io role to node n15. Not only do
you enter the number 5, you must also re-enter the number 3 to retain the compute role
on node n15. You must specify the number that corresponds to every role assignment you
want on the node.
Thus, the entry is similar to this:
Enter the number corresponding to the role or roles you want to assign to this
node. Use a space-separated list to specify multiple roles, for example, 1 3 5.
Or, enter 'c' to [C]ancel. 3 5
Roles to be assigned: compute disk_io
[R]eassign Roles, [O]k, [C]ancel :
5. Do one of the following:
Enter the letter o to accept the role assignments you just made.
Enter the letter r to restart the role assignment process on this node. The Reassign
Roles option does not apply the role assignments, it allows you to return to the list of
roles and make adjustments to the role assignments.
Enter the letter c to cancel the operation and make no changes to the currently assigned
roles on this node.
